Overview

What are the major public policy issues facing the high tech and biotech sectors of American business? Are these the same issues that affect companies in other industries? In this book I have attempted to set forth the most significant public policy issues for these sectors. Some of the most important issues affect the work place, employee compensation, retirement plans, securities litigation, antitrust, domestic taxation, and intellectual property. Others, such as customs, export controls, trade laws, and international tax policies, impact international trade and competitiveness. High Tech Survival was undertaken to help this community (primarily company management) get a better handle on the major public policy issues impacting their companies. This is the first book of its kind to define the critical public policy issues for these two industry sectors.
